locally grown fresh produce for those in need

The Generous Harvest mission is simple
Provide locally grown and sustainable fresh produce to those in need through food assistance programs in the twin cities and western Wisconsin region

LOCAL PRODUCE

The closer food is grown to the source, the less travel time and longer shelf life it will have.  This not only keeps the money in the community, it also reduces carbon footprint through less transportation.

CRITICAL NUTRITION

Produce eaten as close to harvest as possible has the most nutrition for those that consume it.  Our produce does not get sprayed with chemicals to extend its life and is typically in the hands of our customers within days or hours of harvest.

FILLING THE GAP

Most food insecurity programs are left with the option of sorting through outdated and spoiled produce that has been donated to them.  Our system eliminates the middle organizations so produce moves directly from the farmer to the customers which keeps costs low and food fresh.

“It is so nice to see produce that is direct from the farmer in our food banks.   The flavor and freshness lets me know I can eat good food on a tight budget. ”

~Judie L.

Helping those in need

Food insecurity is growing in the Twin Cities area, and locally resourced healthy and nutritious fresh produce is missing through local food insecurity programs. Generous Harvest is wants to fill that gap by growing fresh tomatoes, lettuce and cucumbers that are grown locally to provide for those experiencing food insecurity in our area.

Locally grown produce

We’ve been growing fresh produce since 2010, generating 400,000 heads of lettuce a year for past 10 years. Our food is grown locally and sustainably through a hydroponic system that leaves a reduced carbon footprint, delivering healthy and fresh produce to those whose need is greatest. Our fresh produce also support’s local ethnic food diversity. Our local production means our distribution network can deliver the food while at it’s peak freshness.
